Metallic Abstract in Gold

Die casting refers to the process of forming and shaping heated or cold metal into a mold. This allows for great accuracy in creating the shape and form easily.

What Is Die Casting?

Die casting is the process of forming hot or cold metal in a mold to achieve a desired shape. The metal is put under high pressure into the mold cavity of the desired shape and form. The mold cavity is made up of two steel dies that have been designed to work like an injection mold. Die casting is often made up of certain types of metals including copper, aluminum and tin. Die casting can be very expensive, especially in the early stages. The metal dies and capital casting equipment can be very costly although the actual manufacturing of parts is quite easy. There are two types of die casters including the cover dye and the ejector dye. They meet at the parting line. Die casting has many components that are used depending on the material including cores, cavity inserts, core pins, lubricants, nozzle, ejector pins. plunger sleeve shot and holder block. There are two main types of die casting equipment including cold-chamber machines and hot-chamber machines. Cold-chamber die casting machines are used on metals that do not suit well with hot-chambered machines. These metals include copper, aluminum and magnesium. The metal is first heated in a separate chamber and then the right amount of molten metal is put into the cold-chamber machine. A shot of unheated chamber is driven into the die with a piston. A hot-chamber machine uses molten metal to feed the die.  The metal fills the neck and a piston then forces the metal into the die. It is very quick and efficient.

What Industries Use Die Casting?

Die casting is used in many different industries. It is commonly used in machining, assembly and automotive. It is often used in manufacturing to create many different molds for tools or products. Die casting can be used to make large scale tools, equipment and automotive parts.

Die casting allows for an item to be formed in a certain way. The cast can be extremely accurate and smooth. Die casting can help to reduce the need of secondary machining operations while allowing for a quick rate of production.
